At PowerConnect 2026, almost every discussion about the future of the energy sector sooner or later turned to data. Today, renewable energy generation, energy storage, emissions reduction, and efficient resource management require not only modern infrastructure but also software capable of integrating all these elements.
For INNOKREA, this was the second edition of the trade show in which we’ve been actively involved during the three days spent at AMBEREXPO in Gdańsk. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase how dedicated software solutions can support the green and digital transformation of businesses.
From Energy to Smart Data Management
PowerConnect brought together companies and experts working in fields such as renewable energy, offshore energy, nuclear energy, and electromobility.
A common theme in many of the discussions was the need to make decisions based on up-to-date and reliable data. In the modern energy sector, simply generating energy is not enough. It is also necessary to forecast energy production, plan consumption, take storage operations into account, and integrate information from multiple systems.
It is precisely here that software becomes one of the key components of the energy infrastructure.
AI helps predict energy production
At the INNOKREA booth, we presented an example of how artificial intelligence can be used to forecast energy production from photovoltaic systems.
A model that uses historical and weather data can help operators predict energy generation more accurately. Such forecasts help improve planning for energy use, increase the efficiency of energy storage systems, and reduce the risks associated with the variability of renewable energy sources.
However, the greatest value does not lie solely in the algorithm itself. It emerges when forecasting is integrated with EMS and BESS systems, as well as other tools used by the company.
Decarbonization starts with data
On the second day of the event, Dr. Tomasz Klajbor, CEO of INNOKREA, and Adrian Car of Zero Waste Consulting, an expert on CO2 reduction processes in businesses, gave a presentation titled “Data-Driven Decarbonization: Technologies Supporting the Effectiveness of Climate Action.”
Decarbonization should not be limited to declarations and general environmental goals. For these efforts to yield tangible results, an organization must be able to measure its impact, compare data, and monitor the effects of the changes it implements. Dedicated software can streamline this process by consolidating information from various sources, automating reporting, and providing decision-makers with clear metrics.
Fewer promises, more measurable results—that’s how we view technology that supports climate transformation.
Transformation requires integration
Energy companies use devices, platforms, and systems from a variety of vendors. Each of these solutions may perform its function well, but their full value is realized only when data begins to flow freely between them.
That is why dedicated applications, open interfaces, and the integration of multi-system environments are becoming increasingly important. It is not always necessary to replace existing infrastructure. Often, a better solution is to create a stable software layer that connects the systems in use and allows them to be developed in stages.
The Green Transition is a joint project
For us, the most valuable part of PowerConnect was the discussions we had with experts, partners, and companies facing specific energy challenges. The transformation will not happen in isolation. It requires collaboration among equipment manufacturers, energy companies, environmental experts, system integrators, and software development teams.
We would like to thank our partner, Zero Waste Consulting, the organizers of PowerConnect, and everyone who visited our booth. The discussions we had in Gdańsk confirmed that companies today are not looking for yet another trendy buzzword, but rather for solutions that can be integrated, measured, and applied in their day-to-day operations.
